The Valentine's Day dinner that ended very differently than I expected.
In theory, Valentine's Day should be simple.
A pleasant dinner.
A quiet afternoon.
A moment to feel appreciated and connected.
At least, that's what I thought I was in for when my boyfriend insisted we go out to dinner at a "special" upscale restaurant.
He had been showing unusual enthusiasm about it for days.
He spoke about the restaurant as if it were something important.
"Trust me," he said. "This is going to be a night you won't forget."
At the time, I didn't think much of it. I assumed she just wanted to do something nice for the occasion.
So I accepted.
I had no idea how the night would unfold.
A dinner that seemed bigger than necessary.
The restaurant was one of those elegant places where everything seems to be carefully designed.
