The next day, the inmates were taken to the courtyard to spend some time outdoors.
Kate stood by the fence, her head slightly tilted, when Vanessa suddenly noticed her shoes.
"Nice shoes," she said with a mocking smile as she slowly approached. "Though I doubt you'll need them. Take them off. They're mine now."
The courtyard immediately fell silent.
They all knew perfectly well what happened when Vanessa chose a new victim. Usually, no one dared to argue with her. The women silently handed over whatever she demanded, simply to avoid trouble.
But Kate didn't move.
He looked calmly at the enormous woman and replied in a low voice:
