In 1997, a full 85 years after that fateful voyage, she finally crossed the Atlantic herself – from Southampton to New York – aboard the Queen Elizabeth II, according to Desert News . Millvina Dean died on May 31, 2009, at the age of 97 – exactly 98 years after the Titanic was launched. Her ashes were scattered in Southampton by her husband Bruno Nordmanis, where the ship once set sail.
